This course provides an introduction to the theoretical foundations and methodological approaches used in the study of modern and ancient fluvial systems. It examines their internal organization, stratigraphic architecture, and evolutionary controls, with emphasis on sedimentary processes and basin-scale dynamics.
Special attention is given to the implications of fluvial systems for hydrocarbon exploration and production, highlighting their reservoir potential and associated predictive models.
