The XXIII Congreso Geológico Argentino welcomes Caleras San Juan as a Silver Sponsor, supporting an event that will bring together the national and international geoscience community from April 19 to 23, 2027, in San Juan.
Founded in 1952, Caleras San Juan is a mining company with 100% Argentine capital and more than 70 years of experience in the production of lime and related products. With its industrial plant located in Cienaguita, Sarmiento Department, the company is part of an industry that plays a strategic role in the productive and mining development of the province.
Its participation in this edition of the Congress will also have a prominent place in the scientific program. Mining Engineer Raúl Cabanay, Managing Partner of Caleras San Juan and Executive Secretary of the San Juan Chamber of Mining, will be one of the plenary speakers at the XXIII Congreso Geológico Argentino.
A Mining Engineer graduate from the Universidad Nacional de San Juan, with more than 40 years of experience in the lime industry, Cabanay will deliver the plenary lecture “The Importance of San Juan’s Lime Industry in Large-Scale Copper Mining.”
During his presentation, he will address the importance of lime in processes associated with copper mining, the technological transformations taking place within San Juan’s lime industry, and the challenges arising from the projected growth of mining activity at the provincial, national, and international levels. The lecture will bring to the Congress program the perspective of an industry directly linked to the development of major copper projects and to the emerging demands associated with the energy transition.
The XXIII Congreso Geológico Argentino thanks Caleras San Juan for joining us as a Silver Sponsor and for supporting a new edition of this forum for exchange among science, industry, and productive development.
