XXIII ARGENTINE GEOLOGICAL CONGRESS

San Juan – April 19th to 23rd 2027
Earth as Witness. Geology as Voice

Invitation

The Argentine Geological Association (AGA) and the National University of San Juan (UNSJ) have the honor of inviting the scientific, academic, and professional community to participate in the XXIII Argentine Geological Congress (XXIII CGA), which will take place in the Province of San Juan from April 19 to 23, 2027.

The Argentine Geological Congress is the most important event in the geological sciences in Argentina. Since its first edition, it has served as a key platform for knowledge exchange, scientific advancement, and the strengthening of the geological community at both national and international levels. Each edition reflects the growth of Argentine geosciences and their projection toward new challenges related to natural resources, the environment, education, and society, contributing to a better understanding of our planet and its evolution.

In recognition of its scientific, academic, and social relevance, the XXIII Argentine Geological Congress has been declared of Social, Cultural, and Academic Interest by the Honorable Chamber of Deputies of the Province of San Juan (Resolution No. 210-2025). It has also been declared of University Interest by the Rector of the National University of San Juan (Resolution No. 107/26-R) and of Scientific and Academic Interest by the Board of the Faculty of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences of UNSJ (Resolution No. 1550/25 FCEFN), reaffirming the strong regional institutional commitment to the development and promotion of Earth sciences.

In 2027, the CGA returns to San Juan for its twenty-third edition. This province embodies the geological essence of Argentina, with an extraordinary diversity of landscapes and geological provinces. From the Frontal Cordillera to intermontane valleys, San Juan is a true natural laboratory for studying the processes that shaped our planet. Its geo-paleontological heritage—internationally recognized through Ischigualasto Provincial Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site—together with its mining significance and strong commitment to scientific research, make it an ideal setting to host the geological community.

The Congress will bring together researchers, professionals, and students from both the public and private sectors to present and discuss the latest advances in the various branches of geosciences. Plenary lectures, thematic symposia, workshops, courses, and field trips will foster experience sharing and interdisciplinary collaboration.

San Juan is preparing to welcome you with the warmth of its people, the excellence of its institutions, and the strength of its landscape. The XXIII Argentine Geological Congress will be a unique opportunity to celebrate geology, build knowledge, and project the future of Earth sciences in our country.

We look forward to welcoming you to San Juan so that, together, we may give voice to geology and let the Earth tell its story.
