The Argentine Geological Association (AGA) and the National University of San Juan (UNSJ) are pleased to invite the global Earth Sciences community to the XXIII Argentine Geological Congress (XXIII CGA), to be held in San Juan in April 2027.

The Argentine Geological Congress is the country’s premier scientific forum for the geosciences. Since its inception, it has served as a key meeting point for the exchange of knowledge, the presentation of cutting-edge research, and the strengthening of collaboration across academic, governmental, and industrial sectors. Each edition reflects the progress of the geosciences in Argentina and their evolution toward new challenges connected with natural resources, climate change, environmental issues, sustainable development, and geoscience education.

San Juan Province, host to the 2027 edition, represents one of the most emblematic geological regions of Argentina. From the Frontal Cordillera to intermontane valleys, the region offers an exceptional natural laboratory for understanding the processes that have shaped the Earth through deep time. Iconic geological and paleontological sites, including the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Ischigualasto Provincial Park, together with a strong mining heritage and vibrant research ecosystem, make San Juan an ideal venue for a world-class geoscience meeting.

The Congress will bring together geoscientists, professionals, and students from around the world to present new research, engage in interdisciplinary discussion, and explore emerging trends across all areas of the Earth Sciences. The scientific program will feature keynote lectures, thematic symposia, short courses, workshops, and field excursions to some of the region’s most significant geological sites.
