Dr. Kevin B. Heather
Dr. Kevin B. Heather is an economic geologist with approximately 50 years of experience in mineral exploration in North and South America. He was a founding member of Antares and Regulus and led the exploration team responsible for the discovery of the high-grade Haquira East deposit in southern Peru.
Dr. Heather received his Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Geology from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 1982, a Master’s degree in Geology from Queen’s University in 1985, and his PhD from the University of Keele (England) in 2001. He currently serves as Chief Geological Officer (CGO) and Board member of Aldebaran Resources, as well as CGO of Regulus Resources. He is also a Qualified Person (QP, FAusIMM) responsible at the corporate level for the technical oversight of exploration activities in both companies. He is a Fellow and Honorary Professor of the Society of Economic Geologists (FSEG) and a Fellow of the Geological Society of London (FGSL).
Throughout his career, he has participated in multiple internationally significant discoveries and projects, including the Haquira East Cu-Mo porphyry (Peru) and the Altar United Cu-Au-Mo porphyry (Argentina), for which Aldebaran’s exploration team received the ‘Explorer of the Year 2025’ recognition in Argentina. He has also worked on world-class deposits in South America, including the El Indio mine (Au-Ag-Cu, Chile), the Pascua-Lama deposit (Au-Ag, Chile–Argentina), and the Cerro Vanguardia deposit (Au-Ag, Patagonia, Argentina). In addition, Dr. Heather is a co-founder of the Chilean charitable organization Fundación Mineros Contra el Cáncer (FMCC), dedicated to supporting economically vulnerable children with cancer and their families.
